There has been a recent trend among peripherals brands to move to online or browser-based configuration and remapping tools, with tools like Wooting, Keychron Launcher, and open-. Now, it seems as though 8BitDo has seen the writing on the wall and announced the 8BitDo Ultimate Software Online to broaden compatibility for its suite of reprogrammable peripherals.
At the time of writing, the browser-based configurator is still in beta, and it seems to only support nine devices. 8BitDo notes that the software is designed to expand compatibility specifically for Linux, and it recommends that users on Windows and macOS continue to use the installable version of the software, since it is currently more feature-complete.
